September Hatch-a-long!

View attachment 1548817 WHEW! That was stressful but it’s OUT! A little blood at the navel but it stopped shortly after. It has 5 toes! And some bits of black on the legs. A little weak but hopefully it will make it!

The shell was really quite thick and I don’t think it could get through.

I don’t know why I keep hatching my own chickens. Makes me a nervous wreck! Lol

When I'm hatching in the incubator I keep some stypix right next to it just in case of naval bleeds as have had a few and got that after loosing one cause couldn't get it to stop

Grats Jules they are so cute, will see, I know after some 2 legged critter stole 16/30 that the broody was sitting on and not knowing when she actually started sitting, her hatch started this morning so we will see how many she hatches out of the 14 she was left with

4 out so far just cause i can see em trying to escape and moms not having any of that

She is off the nest with 5 out now, will candle the other eggs, stuck them in nice warm incubator just in case , because she's tired of trying to keep the little busy bodies under her lol

yeah she snuck that in so think sneaky is gonna stick for her lol, first one to successfully brood and get some hatched on their own, so proud of her. she got off nest with 5 out that were eating and drinking and trying to run away so just in case as tired from out of town trip put the remaining eggs in the incubator
will update what heppens with eggs tomorrow when have a chance to candle,

so far 5/16 hatched by the hen before she for frustrated cause the 5 were being escape artists and getting out from under her and eating and drinking lol

2 more are mal positioned and were really dry but one had externally pipped, the other still has a lot of absorbing to do but given wetting down of membrane and a bigger opening looks to be getting turned around now are in other incubator 2 infertile eggs and 5 exploding eggs, I am assuming. Got one chirping back there pretty good but yolk is not fully absorbed, they are in other incubator with warm paper towels
This is after moved mom to a safer place, and she still has to rebels that don't think they should be under mom lol
