September Hatch-A-Long!

I had a dream I was watching my eggs hatch. I was affraid one wouldn't make it but it did. It turned out to be a baby elephant. I was so excited. I was trying to figure out where I was going to put it after it was too big for the brooder.

Maybe I have been hatching too many lately.

I ended up with 4 Salmon Faverolles out of 24 shipped eggs, 1 Isbar out of 7 shipped eggs and 2 Porcelain, 2 Splash and 4 Buff Silkies out of 18 local eggs.  I lost 7 during over the last few days (day after hatch, during hatch and a few from the last hatch).  13 steps ahead, 7 steps back.

I really hate dealing with shipped eggs - I've come to assume nothing will hatch so i can try to feel good about ANYTHING that makes it. Sorry about your struggles.

Next up for me is a whole bunch of staggered eggs from my white leghorns x hopefully with my lavender Ameraucana for some big blue egg layers and my maran x with the same for olive egg layers.

Then 2 of originally 4 local Breda eggs. 2 got cracked in my trip home Stupid unpainted speed bumps... the remaining 2 look good so far (day 14)

Then I have what started as 20 rare South American shipped eggs. 2 were cracked when they arrived and they were all really badly shaken up. Miraculously 6 veined up, and so far 5 look good and the 6th is questionable. Very grateful for whatever I get - but a little sad that the main breed I wanted - Sweet Potato Quechua had no survivors :/ I have 3 Colloncas and 3 Huastecs. They are Day 10.

Then I have 10 Bielefelder eggs on day 6. The shells are a bit dark so I am not candling them till at least Day 10 or 14 when it should be more obvious from just shadows. I hope, LOL!

I am trying not to buy anymore eggs and just wait for my new Lavender Ameraucana to start laying, but there are some calling my name - but they are shipped eggs

Candled last night. Very worried. One has an air sac forming but its so little and dark. The others have no air sac but lots of clear space at the pointy end with the babies forming and moving at the big end. Anyone ever have this happen? Ill try and get pics tonight but my phone is crud.

Tomorrow is LOCKDOWN! Im sooooo nervous!!!!! I just got a free LG and have it drying out in the sun after a good scrubbing. Im planning on setting it up this after noon to use as my hatcher!!! So my plan is to hover over the incubator, lose sleep, be moody and edgy and hope hope hope for a fluffy butt or 2!!!

I haven't had time to keep up, but wanted to update. 14 eggs went into lockdown on Friday. 10 peeps hatched out no problem, one needed a little assistance, but he made it and is in the brooder with the rest. The last 3 unhatched eggs are still in the 'bator, only because the husband insisted they might still hatch LOL. These are BOs, and barnyard mixes from a local farm.
