I think I'm gonna lose my whole hatch since I put them on lockdown yesterday the thermometers are not reading the same temp:he and they have been up until this point and the only difference is the extra water in there so I don't know which one to believe Ugg I will be so disappointed if I lose this whole hatch because of this its day 19 no pips yet I'm holding out hope for a miracle:fl   Please Please Please let at least one peep hatch for the kids!!!!!

I'm almost on day 22 with no pips... :/ My last batch pipped Day 21 and all hatched Day 21.

BATTERIES!! If any of them take batteries change them out - this has happened to me 4 times now. They stay on but go crazy. AND remember that lower temps in lockdown are better than higher. So depending on the temps they are reading shoot for making the lower higher (ETA: what I mean is if you have one reading 98 and one reading 103 the I would lower the temp to get it to read 95 and 100) ones happy. Not many chicks as I hoped would hatch, got 16 total. I was using a home made incubator and I got some temperature spikes. most of the eggs were shipped but looked good.

Big day for my flock. I was out feeding them this morning. There is a little table that they jump up on and 'talk' to me in the mornings. I bend over so we are even and I talk to them one at a time. They take turns jumping up on the table.

Today my rooster (he has made small attempts to move up but the girls always put him back in his place) made a loud noise as he flew to the table, getting my attention. I walkeed overand bent over to chat with him. He looked me in the eye and crowed. He waited staring me down. I petted him, he jumped down a pecked my head hen. She let him. And just like that, there is a new sherif in town.

All of this time I thought he was trying to show the girls he was the man but in the end he wanted to show me. He crowed when he was 5 weeks but as soon as he was added to the big girls outside, he has been silent. We had a moment, it felt like he was asking my permission and all of the chickens accepted my decision.

I have a 4 month old I've witnessed him...being a man....but he hasn't crowed. I'm sure it'll be along while because there a 2 dominant roosters out there. His name is "Little Man" he was the first born baby this year from "Momma one"

And she prefers to eat off of a fork or spoon. I couldn't teach that to my ex in 2 years, turkey learns it in 2 days. Still working on using a napkin. She still has pizza sauce and ice cream in her feathers.

..Mine did not hatch till days 24 and 25 this time..................
Sending positive thoughts for you and your eggs.......................
I tell you, if they are going to hatch, they are going to hatch.......I have made some major opps in the past and sill had live babies..............

Hi,
Just a quick check in................
I lucked out and had two hatch....so they have a buddy.
One little Wheaton AM....one BCM..
The Marans came day 25.pipped at the very top of the egg....
I did the thing I rarely do and assisted.....It was so large, it could never have zipped out.
Thought it might not make it and as weird as this may sound, it looked and acted like it was early
except for it's huge size.
Anyway, I did what we do......gave it TLC..........a warm bath last night because it was covered with goo
and it looks good this morning..............Still has a big belly??????
That's about it.....I will never know why the other eggs did not make it and these little ones survived the 110
temp spike. Mother Nature I guess......................
Later...................

Mine hasn't 'become a man' yet. Staring me down was a big step, my hens are a little intimidating. Soon I'm sure.
