I wanna join I have 15 (was 16 one dropped) eggs first hatch due Sept 10

At least I knew the males are hen-feathered
Umm, well at 5 days an embryo may be hard to identify, I have the same trouble with brown eggs. I would have someone take a pic. while you are candeling it, then candle it at day 10, then compare... Perhaps this will help

WOW!!!! This thread is busy already! Dedication! Should be setting more SFH eggs sometime this week (after they ship). Trying to see if maybe I can get some LF Salmon Fav eggs as well to set for Sept. Let's Go Sept. HAL!

I am new to raising chickens, we started out with RIR. Had 1 rooster and 5 hens, lost the rooster and a hen. Now we have a Barred Rock and 4 RIR hens. I bought a small incubator for 6 eggs and had four fertile, so hope to have 4 chicks in 19 days. At next swap met on Labor Day Weekend, hope to buy a couple more hens. Now I am wondering what kind of hens I want to get to go with my Barred Rock and Rhode Island Reds.

Welcome to the chicken world I too started with RIR! 10, 2 roosters and 8 hens. They were supposed to be all hens ;-). And guess what....my second breed was barred rocks just like you! My third round was silkies, cohins, and a turkey lol. I still have one RIR hen from my first group and 1 silkie and the turkey. My silkie actually jusy became a mama for the first time a few days ago! I'm so glad you are raising your own flock now. I wish everyone could know the joy of knowing chickens. Best of luck and I'm crossing my fingers your hatch goes really well!

My one remaining cochin hen is a first time mama too lol. I juat hatched 2 of her eggs

well! I have 4 incubator and eggs lining the edges that I have to hand turn

I was hand turning my batch, untill they all were killed by some stupid glitch in the incubator temp. gage, I only had 15, so it wasn't that bad, but 4 incubators, my, you have some responsibility on your hands.
