September Hatch-A-Long!

Still no signs of life :( But I know, I know. Some can take longer to hatch. I was just really hoping for something today lol

I had an early pipper yesterday under my mama duck.....huge air cell......it grew so rapidly. I decided to bring it in and keep an eye on it, glad I did!!! Today after 24 hrs. of internal pip, I took a look and it just didn't seem to be as active. I decided to give it an air hole and all I could see was white with a cute beak sticking up through it. So I went ahead and removed about a third of the shell and moistened the membrane and within minutes it was moving all over again!!! It still has some veins but is doing really well at this time.

Today is only day 30....I might just have a pekin x muscovy.....I know my young pekin got some action at the end!!! All of the other eggs are doing great and seem to be on schedule!!!

Okay. I went ahead and did it. Of the 5, three showed no signs of life. 1 looked like it quit at an earlier stage and I didn't realize (just one tiny dark shadow) and the other two showed no movement at all. The last two of them gave me some faint shadows moving in there but none have internally pipped. The one white egg that had moving shadows has a lot of yolk left and some of the edges between the yolk and where the baby is is tainted red all the way around, especially around the veins.

Already signed up for the October Hatch-a-long.

Lavender Orpingtons, Splash Orpingtons, Blue Orpington over splash Marans, Silkies, BO/RIR roo over RIR and BO hens, and 2 surprises (in olive eggs) are already 1 week into their incubation. Going to candle them in just a moment to see how they're doing. Hopefully no losses thus far.
