September Hatch-A-Long!

That's what I do except this time. I left a batch in the carton for lockdown because I forgot to put it on my calender and had to adding during a hatch.

To make it as quick as possible, I left them in the carton. Some people say it works better but the one time I tried, not one hatched and most were positioned wrong. But that could have been from shipping. They were shipped on their sides and loose in saw dust. So another try at hatching in the carton. They looked to be very active when I put them in. Although they are being used as a jungle gym by the chicks hatching right now.

Perhaps you did this, but I cut holes in the bottom of each cup.............

Yes I did. I use them for the first 18 days like that.

I'm gonna use the cartons then at lockdown tale them out and put them on the floor.

ok so day 10 candle culled 6 infertiles and 1 blood ring.
cant get enuf of those cute bobbing babies

Not much news here................tried to move my broody to a larger nest in order
to facilitate the shipped eggs that arrived.
She will not have any of it..............is happy in her little nest and golf ball........grrrrrrrrrrrrr
She is in one of those metal nesting boxes that has several nests........I hate them.
My hens do so much better in card board boxes.and are so cute peeking over the side..........
So, have the eggs in the incubator and will try again with her later when she is a little more into it.

May I jump in? I set 6 buff orp eggs in my new Brinsea mini. We are due on Friday the 13th. Yay. ;(. Candled tonight with my totally inadequate flashlight and I saw only 2 had some darkness in them. But 2 out of 6 shipped eggs with air sacs that looked wonky as all get out would be good with me. After a bad racoon predation, I'm due for some Friday the 13th luck, maybe? Good luck to everyone here! I'm enjoying the ride!

Hi all, jumping in here. I have eggs at day 10 too! I candled tonight and I think one is infertile and one has a blood ring. I see one egg with no movement. I have to Brinseas going. One Eco and One Advanced. 14 shipped eggs. I think eleven of the eggs are still good.

i jut candled some of my serama eggs and i got to see a baby move!

most of the eggs have been the bator a week as of today the rest will be a week in tomorrow



of the other eggs i candled lots of them had tons of veins but i couldn't see the baby..and a couple look clear but i wont toss them yet

I have 5 beautiful babies! I have 2 that are very dark, one is still drying. I have one I think is grey, one white, and I think a Lavender(self blue)
