I just set Porcelain Silkie, Mottled and B/B/BB Bantam Cochin, and EE eggs on August 29th through 30th! It's my first time incubating eggs and I'm so nervous and excited! I really hope everything goes well and that I get at least half of my 36 eggs to hatch :)

I think yesterdays hatch is done. 1 FCM, 1 Cochin, 4 SLW. But I have 4 pips and 1 is already zippping from my tomorrows hatch of Seramas.
my computer is in the shop, I've been using my husbands when I can pry it from him...if I get a chance I'll get pictures!! I don't know how to do the pictures straight from my phone....they are so tiny!

So today is day 21. 1 chick hatched yesterday around 3:30 or 4pm and the other two pipped right afterwards. My question is how long after they pip should they start to zip? It has been 17 hours since they pipped. I can see movement in both of them but I'm getting worried as I am having problems keeping my humidity up. I have read everything on assisting them but I have no idea when and if I should actually help.

You'll have to go to the BYC website from your phone web browser. It doesn't show up as the full website but more like an app. from there you should be able to get to the Sept Hatch-a-long. Scroll down or you can reply and it will place your mouse on the window that you'll type your response. There's a picture icon right above that window but a part of that window and the rest is easy.

Well my 31 EE chicks should start hatching Wednesday. Will probably be my last hatch till early spring since I do mine outside. Interested to see how this one goes. My first hatch of ee chicks back in June did great, something like 31 out of 37 hatched and lived. But last months hatch of Marans and Rhode Island Reds was terrible, total of like 15 out of 38. Difference was they were not my eggs last month. Used mine this month so Im interested to see if hatch rate goes back up.

HI, Don't worry yet..............My concern would be finding a way to keep the humidity up.
Good grief, trying to remember the time frame from pip to hatch and have gone brain dead..
I am sure someone will chime in.
I think it is way to early to assist............especially if there is movement.....

Sometimes they just take a little nap....hatching is hard work for them.
Keep in contact.............and good Luck
