September Hatch-A-Long!

Update! OMG what a day! First hatch was at 2:30 am... and it's just been amazing to watch all day. Out of the 26 I put in lockdown...22 have hatched already, the one I thought might be a quitter, was. Looked like somewhere between 10 and 14 days. The egg that had the air cell on the side, finally pipped late this afternoon... not even close to the air cell... in minutes it split that egg in two and was out with no help from me at all! There are 3 left, two are pipped and starting to zip, the 3rd has no pip yet, but I did sneak a Brahma egg in 12 hours after I started the rest. So maybe! I couldn't be happier with the results of my first hatch in my home made incubator.

I did end up assisting 2. They had good sized holes for many hours and due to the fact that I run 2 fans, they got sticky stuck and I could see they could not move. Both appear to be just fine now! I did shut off the fan that was blowing across the eggs and upped the humidity even more and had no more trouble at all. Thanks to so many awesome people here who are kind enough to share their experience. You all got me to today and thru today! Whatever success I had was all due to this wonderful group of people.  :highfive:

The only problem chick I have seen so far is there's one that tends to get it's feet up over the wings when it tries to get up. So far it has not been able to stand at all. Is this something that may resolve itself as it gets stronger? Is there anything I can do to help it? Or am I gonna have to.... you know....?

Thank ya'll again! When they are all dry and fluffy and in the brooder, I'll take another picture. They are just tooooo cute!
Awesome hatch!!!! Congrats on all your babies

I'm trying to reply to Heidisgran and Dutchbunny, too, but my Ipad isnt cooperating with me:(. I did candle and did Not see internal pips. The one that is rattling has the smallest air cell and since this is my first incubation, shipped eggs, no experience, and a humid climate to begin with I hope the baby doesn't drown in there. I will let you know when I get a pip. Please, please....
I started with 6 in a Brinsea mini and i have 3 that got to lockdown. They're probably all cockerels IF they hatch and I can't keep them but I do love fat fuzzies! I'm so happy for everyone with new babies and I'm so sorry about Dorothy with the sweet little braces. My daughter will come home from college for the weekend if I get babies, I'm sure. And I will love that, too!

Great news! On the chicke with seemingly weak legs - I have seen this resolve itself several times within the first 3 days of mostly sleeping. It depends on what is really going on, but I would not worry yet.

don't concern yourself about the air cell......it's just a big chick....since it's your first time and these are shipped eggs that may be the only one that is actually normal....but you would not believe what I've had chicks hatch out of! you've done everything right it's up to the chicklets now

Thank ya'll! So the babies sleep a lot, run around a lot, peck a lot, walk all over each other a lot and sleep a lot again? Lol! If that's the case, mine are acting normal! One of my final 3 eggs is having a time of it with that membrane. Tough stuff that is! I'm surprised the Brahma chick hasn't just blown out of there... the other two came out like Godzilla.
