September Hatch-A-Long!

2nd fuzzy hatched early this a.m. 3rd and last was pipping when I left for work. First hatch for me and 50 per cent on shipped eggs. The brooder box is set up and I will put them all in at lunchtime or this evening when I get home from work. Thanks for asking!!!! Such a miracle.
Happy Friday, everyone!

My super early Silkie is getting stonger and now it has a Salmon Faverolle to keep it company. I have another SF pip and an Isbar pip. All good news.

Now the scary news (but maybe nothing, I hope). This morning I was taking my older chicks (5 weeks) outside to play in the pen. There was a little bit of blood on the pine shavings. I was checking each chick, looking for a cut and one pooped blood. I really hope it's not coccidia. I haven't added anyone new. They all seem healthy. It was one of my two frizzle Cochin bantams. I took both out and seperated them to watch their poop. I added antibiotics to their water and extra vitamins. I really hope she just ate something weird and poops it out. My chickens all seem health. They don't like being alone. They peep very loud looking for their buddies.
Please don't be sick...

Do you have Corid on hand? Could you just go ahead and give some to everyone to be safe?

My name is Donna.....and i'm addicted to candling chicken eggs lol

Day 13 in the incubator :) Started with 8 silkie eggs, 1 was not fertile so went in the bin. Got 7 now all wiggling away happily :-D

Started candling at day 3 and now i can't stop :) Its been amazing watching them change so quick. Can't help myself, when i go to turn them over before i go bed i have to take a quick peek inside lol Only plan on candling 1 egg and end up looking through ALL of them just to check if they are all ok :)

Can't wait to see what an internal pip looks like!
Can't wait to see an EXTERNAL pip!
AND can't wait to see my little chicks :)

This is all completely new to me - i don't own any chickens....yet :)
Wow....you have the bug, warning it's contagious....no cure found yet, it's hopeless...this will be a long addiction....there's lots of folks here to help enable you, I mean help you, errr....:D Chirp

Hi Donna. My name is Kyo and you and I have the same addiction lol. I've been warned not to candle them to much but I can't help but want to watch the development and see how things are going and growing in there! Hopefully it wears off after a hatch or two.

I'm hoping that when mine hatch it will be at a decent hour. 'Cause my daughter will be um...not happy if I wake the grandbaby in the middle of the night to watch them hatch.......and I will. Shoot, I'll prolly wake everyone in the house with my squeals of excitement.
