Coccidiosis
- Coccidiosis is a parasitic infection that causes droppings to be loose, watery and sometimes bloody. Additionally, the chicks may be weak and have a loss of appetite. Chicks raised in the cool weather of early spring are unlikely to get this disease unless they live in filthy conditions or are forced to drink dirty water. Coccidiosis occurs more often during warm humid weather, when the parasites naturally flourish. To prevent this disease, take measures to keep the drinking water free of droppings and scrub the waterer every time you refill it. Keep the brooder lined with clean litter and immediately replace dirty or wet litter
Awww, congrats!!!Hello world! 1st cream legbar to hatch ;-)![]()

Hoping Ms. Clessie will take these as well since they will be about 1 week or so behind hers.
) to the porch in a brooder box under a heat lamp, until they had time to respond to the meds and start recovering. I had them on medicated feed, but they didn't have time to build the immunity and the soil conditions caused the overload of the protozoan.
. I thinkthis might be it. I have seperated the chick and I'm watching for her poos.ive had that....it probably ate a piece of bedding...i swear its fine....after while itll be normal
They have been out during the day, just in the pen but the big girls sleep in there at night. It hasn't rained here in awhile. Hot and humid but the dirt and bedding is dry. I change out their water two to three times a day. Also half of their food is fermented. I've read this is supposed to help prevent diseases. There bedding is changed every other day. The chick is still looking very healthy. I have read that if they are sick they should get weak quickly. Any of you with experience know if this is true? I really don't want to give my whole flock medication if it is not needed. ANd I don't know if I can find any. I'm about to go to the other TSC since the closest one is still out, to look for Corid. Calling them doesn't help. They never know what they have in stock.Deanna's haven't been out! right?
I had to order mine from Amazon :/ Not great when you really NEED it, which is why I ordered mine even though I didn't need any. I read about someone else's experience and immediately realized I needed it on hand just in case. I hope you can get ahold of some in time.Everyone is here is always out. I will look again today.
