September Hatch-A-Long!

Well in 5 minutes my day 21 starts and I still don't have anything happening. No rocking or peeping, no pips or any signs of progress. This is killing me.

I'm only on day 19 and I can't stand it already! I keep checking for pips through the window with my candling torch. I just need a striped sweater and a swag bag and I have my Halloween outfit sorted!

AND I can't seem to get my humidity up and all 3 thermometer are reading different!!! :he

plus I believe their waste causes potential infections in the newly hatched

For the record, I go against what you are supposed to do and I remove my Godzillas. I had one crazy chick peck open another's shell, and I had one smothering chicks by laying on their pip holes. So I add extra water, boost the humidity and quickly snatch them out to bring to the brooder.

How long do you wait after they are born? 1 is dry but 2 were just born about 3 hrs ago.

I have 65 out of 76 of the initial eggs in my incubator. 3/4 of these are shipped purchased eggs. I read that sometimes these eggs have saddle shaped air cells and that chicks that have this egg condition have difficulties hatching or forming properly due to not having proper room to grow or turn into hatching position. any tips? should I stand it on end at lockdown? Lockdown is on the 24th with the expected hatch rate of the 27th. The little chick is still moving around actively inside the egg.

the saddle shaped air is almost always with shipped eggs. I don't know that it's caused a problem with the hatch, I will say that the anticipated hatch rate is below 50%...I have had better percentage's but don't count on it...when it comes hatching positions...I've had them hatch both ways and prefer the laying down position but that's because then I can watch the eggs wiggle while they are moving inside

I so feel your pain! In 7 hours I'm on day 22 with no rocking, peeping or pips and I too hold the candling torch in the window and double check like every hour! Ugh!

Have you taken them out to recandle yet? At this point I would quickly take each one out and check the air cell for a shadow of an internal pip - a little pointy beak in there somewhere. Listen for chirping too. That is just my opinion though and I am fairly new to all of this. But for me I have never had one go that late - usually if they do and they are viable it means your temps were too low.
