Not sure who the daddy was on this one... she appears orange. Most of my Marans crosses I think are with my lavender Ameraucana and come out black, a few have come out bright yellow - not sure if those belong to the cuckoo marans or what. This one is dark gold with an orange smudge down the back and two black dots on her head. Wondering if the RIR finally got some action, LOL! All the ladies hate him and run away, LOL! He is not gentle and is now penned up but he was out for a while.

In sad news, the Blue Orpington who was born so tiny and never thrived finally passed in her sleep

Expected but sad none the less. And then this morning I found an older Crested Cream Legbar pullet chick had gotten her head trapped in the aviary netting last night and didn't make it into the coop. She is only a few weeks old so I am surprised she made it through the cold of night alone. But she was there chirping for help this morning. I just hope she didn't damage her self struggling. She sounds hoarse and seems very weak and sleepy. I have her back in the brooder this morning with all the little babies. I hope she makes it, she is one of my few crested girls *sigh*

Max was so quiet, no one knew she was in my dress. This is Max on the way to breakfast. Sitting on my left shoulder so ahe can watch the world go by as we drive.

 
Ok so I thought I was done with the bator until this morning I got a call from the local hatchery that my fertile eggs were ready for pick up OMG I forgot I ordered 10 of the rir crosses so it looks like I'll will be joining the OCT hatch along I'll have to throw a couple if my own in to see how they do and a couple if my moms in as well yeah I'm excited!!!
 
Well I've found that if I don't share my luch with them, they turn into little pirates...intent on looting and pillaging. Those red sexlinks can JUMP! My Paprika also has a love for my sweet tea. Yep...she's a southern girl.

are u located I've been looking for guineas!! I would like to hatch some out or get keets! Congrats on your hatch!!!!!!
 
OMG, OMG, OMGOSH!!! After 2 smashed shipments of eggs, 40 eggs later, with only 3 eggs making it to lockdown - one of which I can't see into AT ALL its so thick.... I have a PIP in a Mapuche Huastec egg!!!!!!!!!!! I am so nervous! There are 2 Huastec eggs and one Colloncas egg - the Colloncas I can't see into at all so I don't even really know if its viable or not. BUT the 2 Huastec looked good at last candle although their air cells are CRAZY saddles. I really hope they all make it and I REALLY hope I get a girl and a boy out of it so I can breed more Huastecs - because shipping eggs from Massachusets to Texas was AWFUL :(
