September Hatch-A-Long!

:lau
This is my first hatch, from my own little flock and the grandbaby and I have been getting more and more excited the closer we get to hatchday. We have the alarm set on my phone to remind us to turn them (mostly so that she will turn off the alarm and run squealing to me that it's time to turn the eggs...I'm a sucker for a good Maddy squeal). We've been candling and reading this site together She is so in love with Max the turkey, BTW. And the DH springs this trip on us and I'm like, really? Now? I love him to pieces, bless his heart, but he can be such a big baby about some things. (and apparently turning forty is one of those things. It may be fun, though, to have a hatch at the campsite. I wonder if chicks can eat s'mores?

2 Bresses hatched so far today. Another one wigling inside the egg. One Langshan pipped and 2 wiggling.

So how do you keep a turkey busy? Give her a cell phone and let her text your friends. One of my friends texted back to Max. Max was over there texting away. She even sends them sometimes. All of a sudden the screen light up and the text said 'Hi Max.' When your friends know it's your turkey texting them, what else can you do but laugh until it hurts?

Does anyone know what will happen to the piece of medical tape Max ate? Will it pass or get stuck? She seems fine. She'll eat anything but turkey food.

Here is the info and where I got my Huastec and Colloncas. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/823212/colloncas-huastecs-quechuas

AND, my Colloncas also made it - another full assist, but luckily I've gotten quite good at them after all my disastrous shipped eggs with dreadful malpositions over the past 2 months. Now if only I could have had more than 2 of 40 eggs survive to hatch :( But here she is! Her yolk was fully absorbed, naval looked good though alittle puffy like maybe it stuck to the membrane a bit when she got out. Dabbed iodine and some corn starch just to be on the safe side. She is now back in the bator drying, chirping away and doing egg bowling :) I think that she and the Huastec are going to be fine :fl

I also lived in TX, where I met DH. Both my kiddoes were born in Houston, but grew up in San Antonio. DH's family lives in Clear Lake. I'd much rather live in the country, though I do miss my Casa Ole

I can't wait to see what it looks like dry. Pretty coloring. Love the curls.

The link is a video of Max texting.

lol...you can candle whenever you like...if they are shipped eggs it's very likely they got warm enough to start incubating...if you see a heartbeat they are further along than 2 days...but it's too early to make a judgment on the others...happy hatching

One was developing but gave up.
One other is maybe developing.
Hating USPS right now :(

USPS owes me seriously. The guy even admitted their fault.
Doesn't make up for early death and non developers due to detached air cells.
Gggggrrrrr
