September Hatch-A-Long!

Oh ok thank you so much are you gonna have any chicks soon

I'm expecting some from my sex link next week...which I really looking forward to because I haven't any others like her

I am crossing into the hard stuff. A couple mixed chicks leads to pure bred chicks to hatching mixed eggs to hatching pure bred eggs to expensive pure bred eggs to expensive chicks. Almost full circle. Starting with Mixed chicks(cigarettes) ending with Greenfire chicks (heroin). I can't help myself. I am being sucked in by the excitment of the unknown and the lure of the of something unique and special. I figure if I sell half, it won't be so bad. A pure breed mix batch. The excitment is almost too much. I have never had chicks delivered before. It's like a Chicken Christmas!

I haven't said yes yet. Anything from anyone here? Have any of you ordered from Greenfire? I have heard ggod and bad. Anyone? Anyone?

I'm doing it. I can't wait to see what I get. I will let you all know. Overall, I have heard mostly good. The bad is usually complaints about the price but after everything that they have to go thru to import the birds, they'd have to, to make the money back. Or people expecting a perfect bird which no one can produce everytime.

the boys have a sort of wrinkly looking spot grow where there comb would be...which is their comb...obvious at about 2 or so weeks in my case
Do you have a picture? Mine don't seem to have that. Put I might be looking for the wrong thing.

Max needs her own thread. The Max Diaries!

I have thought of that exact name. I have a Facebook page that I put a lot of my Max stuff on. I've been putting more here because you guys understand.

How are everyone's chickies getting on? Mine are 10 days old already! Woah where did that go? Most of them have beautiful mottled grey wings. I can't wait to see how they turn out.

mutts!

Not forgetting my little late hatcher who kept me up all night on day 23. Still half the size of the others but has no idea! :)

Let us know how it goes. What did u bump the humidity up to at lockdown? I'm trying to come up with the right humidity for mine. I'm doing the egg weighing but each egg loses weight at a different rate so very difficult. I used a 5 egg avg. 3 of the are pretty close to dead on for weight loss but 2 are about 3 days behind at day 12.

sorry I didn't get back faster but between working full time, winterizing my coop, and dealing with moving all of my flocks to new coops. I just had been running in circles lol. I bumped my humidity up to 70% at lockdown. I only hatched 8/48 eggs. All were healthy, I handed them off to a local farmer as a thank you for some help he has given me. I think I let me eggs temp vary too much before going into the incubator due to transporting them. My finance hated hatching the eggs because of the incubator alarms and the stress, made me promise not to set more eggs until spring. Just a few days ago I could've layed an egg myself to hear, "maybe we should get more eggs for the incubator" lol so hopefully I'll set more eggs in a month so.

I will try to remember a picture....silkie roos grow a comb that looks like a half a walnut....maybe do a search engine? my little baby roo is about 1 month and his little spot isn't black...I'm assuming it will turn black...just as the others eventually get red.
did you say your hatching this month?
I'm super excited about these eggs I bought...I guess I've felt that way each time..lol
