September Hatch-A-Long!

I will try to remember a picture....silkie roos grow a comb that looks like a half a walnut....maybe do a search engine? my little baby roo is about 1 month and his little spot isn't black...I'm assuming it will turn black...just as the others eventually get red.
did you say your hatching this month?
I'm super excited about these eggs I bought...I guess I've felt that way each time..lol

I have Seramas due tomorrow but 9 have hatched already. Some are so tiny, even tinier than usual.

Looks like I have a 0% hatch rate for my first try.
Just learn from your mistakes ! My August hatch I was at 0% , September I made it up to 46% hatch . October I hoping for higher !

I count the number that I start with because I paid for them. And it is the true number. (They may not be infertile just because they are clear. If they were shipped, could be other problems.) I think most count the last day or lockdown. A lot of people say they have 100% hatch but through out the incubation process they are talking about removing quitters or clears but still say have 100%. Very confussing. If I am buying from someone I hope they are talking about how many they started with.

yay 9 (or 10?) chicks hatched out of 20? is there a reason for that

several reasons..
1 if they were shipped they go thru a lot to get to you...temp changes jiggling and dropping etc
2 if you had temp issues during incubation
3 humidity issues during hatch
4 it's up to the hen if the egg is fertile...maybe she held out on you.....lol
5 the health of the parent birds

there are many more I'm sure someone else can add to the list

you got several though congrats...post pics if you can

Eggtopsy is done. of my 6 starting eggs, 1 was infertile, 2 were quitters, 2 were misaligned with one having its head tucked into its belly angled more towards the pointy end (the one I tried to help) and the other completely turned towards the pointy end. The last one was in the perfect position, internally pipped, membrane was good and it looked like all the veins were gone, most of the yolk absorbed so not sure what happened.
