2nd night poop free. Yeah Max! She has been holding it all night. Maybe, after awhile, she will hold it without the Jammies. I woke up this morning with a Max on my face. I hope she doen't do that when she is 25 lbs. She has been spend more time each day running around the floor. Every once in awhile she will call me. If I don't answer she'll run out into the open and keep calling until I do, then go back to exploring. When she is done, she calls me, I call back, put my hand on the floor and she comes running. If she isn't ready, she will avoid me. If I hold food out, she will tackle my hand to get it. I wish there was a way to video this stuff but I haven't been able to get my dog to hold the phone steady.

I also lay the eggs on their sides, haven't used a carton yet. I know some folks do it no problem but the idea scares me. I wouldn't want to be the chick that has to bust out that way. And now bouncing over to look for an October thread to post my latest hatch! e

The last 8 small mutt batches or so I have actually stopped the turner when its vertical, taken the eggs out, laid paper towels on top of the turner, poured water on it so the circles sink in and then set the eggs on top of the turner holes covered in paper towels. I have had almost all 100% hatches and no malpositions. I tried hatching before laying down and in cartons and neither way worked well for me - tons of malpositions. BUT I ALSO upgraded my bators since then with an Incu kit in one and the other was replaced with a Hovabator genesis. Both are extrememly reliable and need no messing with. I stopped dry hatching and started doing 45% humidity days 1 - 18 and 65% at lockdown. So ANY of the above or a combination could be the source of my new success. I have NEVER had one have any trouble at all getting out of their egg though, none at all. That definitely sounds like something else is going on. How do their navels look when they are out? Could they be getting glued in due to low humidity??

Max is incredibly brave or very hungry. As I was pouring my dog's food into her dish, Max came whizzing by thru the stream of dog gravy, into my dogs dish to steal a piece of food. Many have tried, even with my dog as old as she is, I don't think anyone has ever succeeded. Certainly never tried twice. Today, Max stole three pieces. Daisy snapped at her and she just ran between Daisy's teeth. I was laughing so hard that I wouldn't have been able to stop her anyway. She was like Speedy Gonzales. She spent all day at work with me. Behaving herself. We had Taco Bell for lunch. She is not a fan. I thought ahead and ordered one of the tacos supreme, I pulled off the lettuce and tomatoes for Max. Max rode to work and home again on my hand.



My last lone egg is slowly hatching. Pipped last night and the membrane stuck to the chick. It was fighting like crazy. I sprayed it and unstuck it, zipped a little and put it back. I hope it will be out and dry and alive tomorrow.
