It is just easier to check the free list than it is to hunt down materials and make them myself.... my peachicks are outside for the first time today in their new run... I just had to put some bird netting over the top and they are out there eating all the grass and weeds! I will probably bring them in at night for awhile, they are very sensitive creatures and I have to ease them into new things!
All five of my new chicks are good and in the brooder... already have an ad for them up!
And last night while I was trying to rearrange my Seramas in my shed... I had my roo and a broody hen, Anna, with eggs about to hatch in one cage and another hen, Frizzle, with 5 week old chicks in the cage next door. The chicks could actually go between the two cages while they were smaller! I thought I should switch the hens so the new mom could have her own apartment for a while and when I did, Frizzle just jumped up on the roost with roo and totally abandoned her babies!! I figured it was about that time but still! Just leaving them in the cold at night! Okay, it really isn't very cold, but it was so sad. Her chicks were the first 2 of 5 staggered eggs and I had the last 3 inside so I brought the scared little things in and they all got along great! I was kind of shocked! They are going to outgrow their place much sooner but it actually looks like 4/5 are hens!!??? Someone could still surprise me, but I am happy
