September Hatch-A-Long

I do not think it is pasty butt. I think it sat in Ethel poop. Ethel is not very neat with her poop. I looked at it and it looked ok.

I will put a little ACV in the water just incase though. thanks

Any suggestions on the penguin one?

I don't know Jack about turkeys, except wild ones come in a bottle ;) but just thinking logically, the fact he/she stands so tall could be muscular or simply a male trait??

So perhaps a sore neck? I was just looking closely at the pics and penguin chick really does look awkward, it appears to have real trouble with neck and back, it certainly doesn't hold its head like the others. Know of a turkey chiropractor??

Speaking in human speak with regards a sore neck where bones are out of place, heat applied to the area would at least assist, as penguin chick grows could you (would you?) ever so gently stretch its neck? Not enough to kill it of course, but perhaps realign the bones IF it doesn't resolve itself. Maybe a few days and it'll be fine? Ethel should be giving it enough warmth to right any muscle soreness.

Lordy, have you ever had a stiff neck?? It bloody well hurts!!!!!

Ooooooo! I have been busy on the computer and I just went to have another peek - I have 8 pips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good idea!

It's a bloody killer waiting isn't it!! No wonder women are ultra keen to meet their babies after 9 months!!! LOL

don't get discouraged.
I was starting to get nervous last night, just before I saw a pip. if they were active at the start of lockdown I imagine they will make their move soon

Thanks guys! It really is a killer. How can we get so attached to a bunch of eggs in such a short amount of time? I guess it's all the TLC along the way and the amount of time we've devoted. I know I know, shouldn't rush things and "let nature do it's thing". I was good though. Haven't opened the incubator since the start of lockdown.

:D

well, I have 5 of 8 out now and day 20 just ended. possibly had slightly high temps, but they all look good. I think another is starting to zip.

one of the chicks slammed a pipped egg against the side of the 'bator. I hope its ok, they are not too careful once they get out and they sure don't listen to me.
