Not a good pic, but I have one fuzzy butt that hatched while I was visiting my parents and another pip. Don't think the pipped one is going to make.it though.

VERY MESSY YES. That's the only way we will get more ducks is if a broody hatches them.
I am hoping they will be calmer too! My first six, no matter how much we handled them, were scared of us. I hope a a calmer group will tame them too!
You can't see it in the picture but it has a white patch on its chest. It could be a full blooded Cayuga, Maggie, or Peking, or any combination thereof.

I don't know if you can see it in the picture, but it has a silver "haze" to it in the light.

FOUR have hatched!!! And my neices and nephew came to see the incubator and new chicks and showed up just in time to watch the last five minutes of an egg hatching. It went from a small crack to fully hatched in five minutes while my neices, nephew, and brother and sister in law crowded around to watch it. And if that were not cool enough 7 more are pipped. Only three more eggs need to pip for all of them to be started hatching!
