Hello,

I would like to compile a list of all the Serama Breeders here in CA. More towards Southern California. The reason is, to diversify the gene in the Seramas in the area. Inbreeding won't help so lets do something new : )

Trade with breeders who are within 50 miles of each other. 1 or 2 times a year thing so its not that bad.

I will go ahead and start:

1. )

Name: Tommy Truong
Location: San Diego
Type: Jerry Schexnayder's Line. Class A. Some Bs. All different colors.
Stock Size: 12 Seramas and increasing

As I undestand it, arent the online lines out there direct decendants of Jerry Schexnyders lines? So in some way, form, or fashion, wouldn't everything be inbred to a certain degree.

I know nothing of Seramas, other than the little bit that I have researched....

Basically,

With the topic of "inbreeding", NOTTHING is 100% pure from inbreeding. Even simple chickens such as RIRs and such. Yes, to preserve such a great line, you have to breed "close", not really inbreeding but only for so long. Like, 4 generations in which you have to get something else.

Knowing the reputation of Jerry, he should be doing things right. Nevertheless, the Trio that was bought from Jerry originally are all three different strains in which he collected differently. Even if they somehow DO turn up to be related, it would only be about 10% or less which I think should not create any problems. Now, the chicks from them will even more diversed if they are non-crossed again and so forth.

As far as I know, none of the chicks come out defected or turn weird so thats a really good sign of proper breeding...

Hello...

I checked out her website.

Pretty cool looking ones but that is a company. Looking for local hobbiest who breeds for a hobby, not for mass resales or anything : )

I'm in Orange County and also have a pair from Jerry that I breeding in addition to some from out of state, Darlene Thompson. I have 2 young roos, a breeding pair, chicks and eggs hatching. Would be interested in exchanging eggs or chicks with someone as I believe one of my roos is a mini.

Hello...

You got it! This post is in regards to gathering everyone in CA, preferrably in SoCal so that we can exchange quality birds for breeding to get the best and diversity. O.C. is only 2 hrs from here, so thats good! What class are your breeders and what colors? : )

Hey 4Her,

I still like that micro roos of yours.....I just found out a few weeks ago that you sold his brother to my uncle and his son.

Both of the chicks i got from you are very healthy but they might be pullets.
Any knowlege on what that 3rd chick in the batch is? Just curious....

Let me know when you want to sell that boy, i love his size and color pattern. I recently tried to order an A class pair from Jerry, the problem is he will not ship anything until after labor day. Guess i will have to wait til then. By the way, my friend still interest in some chicks from you. Remember to notify me when you have some.....

I think Celeste Tittle of hamandeggsranch.com problemly have chicks for sale by now. She asked me to check back with her in a few weeks when i called her.

I am just a serama hobbiest in O.C. Cal searching for a rare n beauty for my personal collection of birds.

Tommy, email me if you are interested in possibly exchanging eggs or birds. I currently have a few chicks that I am undecided as yet as to whether or not I want to sell but I have fertile eggs. You can contact me at [email protected] or [email protected].
