Serama eggs from Castle Delight Seramas

I just got my first black legged one too...is yours from the Amadeus pen? I'm thinking if it is then it is Marion's. She is mostly black with just a little bit of mottling and has some slight smudging on her legs. Black is going to be accepted on black birds most likely but it would be nice to try and narrow down who is throwing the black legs...

and love those names...

Yes from Amadeus he has black beak mostley black with white under his wings his face is just the sweetest

Sounds just like the one I have. I think the Momma is Marion. Mine is starting to get nice brown edging on the wings already...very black beak and slightly smudgy legs. I'm thinking mine is a rooster too...lol he just has that look even though he is only a few days old!

The early bird egg is fully hatched, it took 24 hours, and at last report
was alternating napping with walking around peeping.
I hope she (or he) is encouraging the others to hatch tomorrow!

Congrats Susan!!!! When I get an early hatch, it usually has usually taken full 24 hours before anything else happens but then they start popping out like popcorn!

Still only one chick. Trying to REMAIN CALM.
By my calculation, today is day 21, and they would be
due to start piping after 2 pm.
Not giving up until Friday on the other eggs, but how long to
leave that one lonely chick in the incubator? It should be fine until
Friday, right?

It will be fine for 3 days. I know what you are going through. This last hatch I had one hatch early then nothing...and nothing...and nothing lol. Finally I couldn't stand it any longer and pulled a couple to candle. They had internally pipped and I heard chirping. A few hours later I had babies everywhere. Did you candle them before you put them into lockdown...to pull out the duds, check air sac development etc?

Checked them today, alas other than the one hatched chick, only 4 other eggs showed any development. All the rest were completely clear. The four are still in the incubator. Hopefully one will hatch so my lone chick won't be TOO spoiled. Must have been a rocky trip for them.
