I can actually post one of these seriously now!
Meet Copper. Copper is an eight week old Serama, hatched 4/11/18.
To set the perspective; Two of my Seramas are quite obviously cockerels. My silkied Serama is pretty clearly a pullet, with no comb at all. However, to my understanding, silkied Seramas mature more slowly than standard feather. Then there's Copper.
Copper I am uncertain off - it has a comb, but it's remaining yellow/orange rather than getting red like the boys. The wattles are still fairly small. Still, it's an eight week old bird with a comb and small wattles. There are reddish feathers on the wings, but they appear to just be more 'cream' color in its early stages of feathering in, since the neck feathers started out that way as well. The obvious boys have much more red in their faces.
I'm not asking for a guarantee of gender - just opinions on whether it's absolutely one way or the other.
Photo 1; back shot. You can just see some of the hints of reddish feather coming in, and where it's already turned cream. Pardon my friend's hand - Copper was being a butthead.
Photo 2; face shot. A bit more red in the face than normal, because Copper was pissed off at me for taking pictures.
Photo 3; Copper was not speaking with me, but you can get a glimpse of comb color comparison to the two boys - and a peek from Wren, the silkied Serama, who has no comb. The boys were very curious why I was taking pictures out the pop door from inside the coop.
And there you have it. Thoughts? Opinions? Serama photospam?
