How do her wounds look now compared to when they first occurred?

What are you using for bedding?

It’s a rubber bottom. I didn’t want to use bedding so debris didn’t get into the wound. I laid down two nesting pads. I change them about five times a day.

It is showing some improvement, but I’m just not sure it’s enough. There is some necrosis around the back of the neck but I expected that. I washed and removed that today.

Okay BYC hivemind... what would you use as artificial skin on a chicken? if the wound is too big to scab over and needs a little extra something? because obviously the crop hole needs to be closed.

Maybe a skin graft from a butchered chicken from their own flock?

I just wanted to update all who posted and to thank you for the wonderful advice. I’ve had my chickens almost two years now and this was the first major injury I’ve had to deal with. I wrote down all the advice for future just in case reference. I did go ahead and decide to euthanize her based and advice from a vet tech. Skin grafts weren’t even an option. She may have lived a while longer but the damage to the crop and neck were just too extensive. Thank you again for this wonderful community of knowledge.
