No more pips or anything from the other 5, surely they should be alright?! Day 21 Tomorrow though so i suppose it's just early days!

Since I have never had day-old chicks before, what is considered normal poop? Right now their's is a greenish poo. One had an explosive poop a few minutes ago with it's little wings all stretched out.

Sounds like baby poo to me. That's what all of mine have the 1st couple times til they actually start to eat.

Where did you find the Marans? Every where I have looked they are sold out till Sept. or Aug. I want Black Coppers so badly.....
I found mine on e-bay actually. Coups-coops has several varieties of Marans, Cochins & Jerseys & I contacted her directly to ask about just ordering an assortment of what I wanted rather than trying to bid on several auctions & ending up with 3-4 times as many eggs as I actually wanted. With shipping I paid $56 for 18 eggs. They ship tomorrow morning.

Here are my little cuties! 13 silkies and 1 lonely bantam cochin. There are two eggs still in the incubator but I don't have much hope for them. I went through and candled the remaining eggs and about 7 were dead, and 2 were still moving but they would be pretty late compared to the others and no pips yet. I wonder if I opened the incubator to much to get the other chicks out and their humidity levels got off or something since all the dead chicks in the other eggs looked like they were fully developed, and just had not pipped. Or could it be that they got knocked around by the hatching chicks and were in the wrong positions? I'd like to have a better hatch rate next time than 14/33.

I've still got some in the bator, but as of right now I hatched 5 of 6 Ameraucanas, had 1 quitter. 7 of 11 Light Brahmas, 2 quitters, still waiting on 2 eggs to pip, hopefully. 10 of 16 Salmon Faverolles, 1 not looking so hot, 1quitter and 5 eggs not pipped. 2 of 4 Dorkings, waiting on 2 eggs to pip. Not too bad for a second hatch, a 3 hr power loss and having to pull a couple of shirk wraps when my humidity dropped, probably how I got the quitters too.
