Here are my little cuties! 13 silkies and 1 lonely bantam cochin. There are two eggs still in the incubator but I don't have much hope for them. I went through and candled the remaining eggs and about 7 were dead, and 2 were still moving but they would be pretty late compared to the others and no pips yet. I wonder if I opened the incubator to much to get the other chicks out and their humidity levels got off or something since all the dead chicks in the other eggs looked like they were fully developed, and just had not pipped. Or could it be that they got knocked around by the hatching chicks and were in the wrong positions? I'd like to have a better hatch rate next time than 14/33.

That must be the little Cochin right in the middle. It's the only 1 I see who doesn't have a dark beak

Me two!!! How long now do you think until they fully hatch? I can't stop watching it and it hasn't done anything else in the last two hours.

I'm thinking about calling in sick tomorrow. LOL

Luckily I am a stay at home mom so I can sit and watch all night tonight and all day tomorrow if I want to! The kids are out of school now so they can watch too. I keep going over and whistling at the bator, lol.

Well i am now officially on day 21 and absolutely no signs that the other 5 eggs in the bator are doing anything.... Poor eggbert is going mad in there by himself! I am going to take him out soon i think. I can't believe the others have done nothing yet since they all looked fine in on day 18! I have to say though Eggbert did hatch the WRONG end of the egg, so maybee this is why he was the first to hatch (infact the air sack at the top was still sealed)!!

Just put a stuffed animal in the brooder with him. And he wont feel lonely.

I woke up at 4:30 this morning to check on my pipped egg. It has made some progress and you can actually see the chick moving around in there.



But I was surprised to see this little one in there as well!




So if all goes well with the first egg, I will get at least two out of all this! These two are both BLRW chicks.

The other egg hatched and we got to watch! I have already had to rescue that first chick. I went to check on them and she was hanging from the heating element by her head. I of course opene the incubator and got her free. Figured I might as well grab them both for the brooder. Only two hours old and she is already suicidal!
