Set eggs 5-12 Looking for hatching buddies

Everyone's hatch stories are KILLING me! I can't wait for mine and now am worried sick that I will lose some last minute, some of these stories scare me too! I have never hatched eggs before, always bought pullets so I am new to this whole incubator thing. If an egg is bad, will it always smell? I don't want to crack a questionable one and find out it was alive and viable. I also really don't want anything exploding in my bator. I have seen lots of movement in several of my eggs, but still have some that are too dark shelled to see anything but the air cell. Lockdown is on Tuesday and I am getting very excited!

This is my first time too. I'm nervous that something will happen to them within the last few days also. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens.

Sometimes, things can happen in the last few days. However, that is mostly for those people who have low or high humidity and fluctuating temps. Ive opened up a few eggs several days after a hatch to find a fully developed chick inside, but it was dead. But that was when my humidity was whacked! You guys should be fine!!! Just keep your humidity up and its ok if your temp is fluctuating from 97 to 103(mine was) Keep in mind that this is my fifth successfull hatch. There were several hatches where nothing happened! You learn from experience. My first incubation, i had no idea what i was doing, and i didnt know about BYC! There is so much i have learned, i could write a book about it. If it doesn't work out for you the first time, don't give up! See it as a learning experience, not a failure, and keep trying. Make sure you take away one thing from each hatch and use it to improve your next hatch! Good luck everyone! Can't wait to hear about your chick stories!!!

Yeah what they said!! I am so worried about my little eggs! I am unsure of my start date due to temp issues so I locked mine last night. They should be due the 29 or the 31st! Last time I looked they were all 8 still going. I am REALLY freaking out repeatedly over these eggs!!

Today I finally got my temp to stay at 100. I have a still air that has been jumping to 103. I'd rather it be a little low than high and cook the poor peeps. I set the eggs at 8 am on Sunday, May 13th. Does that day count as my first day or would it be the following day? If that is my first day then I will putting mine into lockdown mode on the 30th.

.Okay just candled my eggs for the last time. Today day 16. Down to 7 from 10. Worried some eggs look more developed than others. Some air bubbles are shaped sort of wierd. Some air bubbles look bigger than others. All embryos moving though. Should I be worried? Temps 102 Still-air on top of eggs. Humidity 47-50.

I have some with odd shaped air cells too. I read somewhere to make sure you lay the eggs down with most of the air cell headed up at lockdown.
