Im gonna candle again today to make shure everyone is in there still. A few days ago when I did there were three I couldnt find the embryo even though there was veining . Today will be day 11 so everyone should be big enough to see in those little chucker eggs hopefully. I hope I still have all 14. I tried to get a pic but it didnt work I did get a video but cant get it from my phone to here yet .

This is NOT my week. Just checked on my two Grey hens who were both sitting on a clutch of ( SOLD ) Clarets... Guess what? Not one egg finished incubating. It appears they all quit between day 18 and day 21. Shells were very hard, and last I candled their clutches ( about 10 days ago ) the chicks were going on strong and starting to really darken. So I had to call my customer and tell him I'm having to reset my hatch. The hens were not happy to be broken up, but my ( poorly bred or possibly crossed ) Asil is very happy to add hens to his harem. He now has four hens, as I added two blues in there with him as well. It's a radical attempt to keep them from going broody again.

The rest of the SSH eggs are going on strong, now they just have to make it to lock down.

Skylar called me today asking if he can make a weekend trip out the weekend of his duck eggs hatching. Who can say no to a begging six year old?

9 days to go on the eggs I set with you guys. Anyone have any more updates?

Mrscollardgreen - hubby doesn't have to know if you hide it in the closet! No, hunny, I just have NO idea why we have 75 new chicks... Yes, I'll sell them. No, we won't keep any... Flock looks bigger? No, we have always had 20 hens and 2 roosters. - We've all been there! lol!!

gabrielle1976 - If you're still having trouble seeing into the egg, mark the air cells and check on one of the BYC candeling pages.

That will be a perfect solution. I have two closets that I could possibly use for that very purpose.

I am sorry to hear about your Clarets. Is this the first time that you have hatched this breed? I was just wondering if that's normal for that breed to just quit so close to being ready to hatch.

You're right...who can say no to a 6 year old that wants to watch their duck eggs hatch? Especially ones that have been shaken and listened to to see if they were chirping early on. LOL

LOL Skylar is my godsend of a nephew who is just a doll. He called me earlier and asked me to send him pictures of his muscovies and of the duck eggs we plucked from the park so he could check his chart I sent home with him... Yup, teaching him how to candle early on! He just recently decided to set up one of the incubators on the dining room table, check temps, add water ( a little TOO much I might add... ) ON the eggs, candled them.... Yeah. He was really trying to get a hatch going. Had to toss those eggs as they weren't fertile ( came from my layer coops ) and replaced them with others so he will get a hatch around that time. Little brat is to smart for his own good.

Tell me how you say no to THAT face?

I was to tired last night to candle So I will try tonight. Today is day 12 so hopefully we can see some fun stuff in there befor they get to full up to see much besides dark. Im dying of anticipation for my 50+ quail eggs and my 30+ chicken eggs to show up I wish they would hurry up and get here Im guessing they will get here by saterday
