Set Eggs August 25, anyone else?

My last hatch happened about 8:30 last night, and nothing has happened since (two more eggs in the hatcher) . . . does anyone think these eggs still have a chance? They definitely had development on 9/1 - I didn't candle all the eggs again after that, just the ones that showed no development so I could remove them.

Thanks
Melissa

Yes it's still possible! I thought my hatch was over - but I had another pip and hatch today!

I haven't had anything yet.
I put my 5 farmer's market eggs under my broody Silkie at 7pm Wed. Aug 25. I checked at 6am (nothing) and will be home at 6pm. So if I don't have any chicks pipped, should I open up the eggs or wait until tomorrow night?
And now I am looking at the fertile vs infertile pics in the sticky and second-guessing myself. Maybe my eggs were never fertile?

I thought it looked like a bullseye on the one I opened up before I put the 5 under my Silkie.
What would you do?
Thanks.

In the middle of day 20 I have 4 millies pipped and one lonely silkie pip. Man I've tried to hatch silkies in my last 4 or 5 hatches and it all seems like they ether pip late and hatch or don't pip or hatch at all. I don't know if there is a special trick to hatching silkies but if their is I sure haven't found it out yet

I actually candled my one egg on the day it pipped. I couldn't stand to wait. The egg was so dark the light wouldn't even show through it at all. So I held it to my ear and heard a faint tapping and chirping, it was still alive! Maybe you should grab a light and candle them or listen to them before you open one up?

I've been conversing with the breeder that I purchased my silkie eggs from. He advised me to go ahead and try to hatch the remaining 2 eggs . . . he said that he has the best luck with 75% humidity at lockdown for silkies and no openings in the bator. I had pretty high humidity (65-72%) for lockdown . . . so I did get 3/5 successful hatches. The last two eggs were indeed dead - one apparently died sometime in the past week or two, and the other looked like it died within the last few days.

I hope I can figure out why this happened so I can prevent it in the future.

And on a happier note, here's a pic of 4 of my 5 chicks - snuggling with "mama bear" - a very soft toy bear that I ziptied to the side of the brooder. They seemed very happy to snuggle with it!

well my first millie pip that went past 24 hrs hatched....but i hatched it. Poor guy was shrink wrapped, membrane was all opaque white, the chick was quite large for a millie too, there was no way he was getting out with his foot over his head too. He seems to be doing well so far, very loud. Now since the membrane was soooo dried up on my millie i checked my first silkie pip too...was about 14 hrs old. Once again the membrane was dried out as well!!! ARGH!!!! This made me sooo mad, maybe it's the shelf liner blocking my humidity from reaching my egg's?? But the thing has millions of tiny holes in it so i thought for sure humidity wouldn't be a problem. Well needles to say i started to help the silkie out as well, put him and the egg back in the bator and he is now pushing himself out as we speak. I have 2 other silkie pips and 4 millie pips still in the works as well.

Hmmm, I always use the shelf liners without any problems - hopefully it was just those 2 eggs. I'm glad you helped them!
