SET EGGS JUNE 23 ANYONE WITH ME?

So Sorry Heather!

No fun when we loose one that hatched or is so close.

Ok, so I've broken some more shell off of the two eggs that have made no attempt in the past 24 hours. I wrapped them both in a warm wet paper towel to keep the membrane from drying out....wish me luck.

I'm so heartbroken that they aren't even trying to get out any more.

Is there anyway to remove the membrane and completely hatch them by hand? I don't want to lose them, but they aren't even trying :(

I just helped along two that have made no progress since yesterday morning. The one seems to be working on getting out again, and the other is still not doing anything.
Baby #2 just arrived and she has 2 more in hot pursuit. Today is turning out to be relatively exciting.

WRVgirl are you doing thre same as the first chick just peeling back a little and waiting? starting at the air cell?Had they piped or a little zip yesterday when you started t o help today.?Arethye out or just a little more along since you helped?

Wow! I have been gone for 4 days and there have been 183 post here.Thats great!
However in my absence, my son forgot to turn the eggs a couple times!!!!!

Tomorrow is lock down so I am not going to get my hopes up on a great hatch. I had some in the other bator with the turnner I will move with them to lockdown. Maybe we will get a few at least? The rest on the turnner are banty eggs and not due for lockdown till next Friday. I used the turnner for them because the are so small and there were a lot of them to turn!!!
I read a debate on BYC over not turning the last few day...Maybe yours wills till be just fine not turned.Pretty late in the hatch so maybe...

I have one guy of 3 (do i sound like a broken record?) trying to hatch today day 21...Monday i have new BBS orp eggs coming. ....Pretty exciting
Also trying to order some more Lavender orps to set as well same time as this lavender orp hatch as even going perfect will be not too many

They had only pipped...and still haven't done anything but stick their beaks out of the pip hole...I don't know how else to help them. I only zipped for them....which I thought would help them along and it hasn't.

I've got 5 babies out of their shells, one of which is my 36 hour-er chick....She's out, not completely happy about it but there's 3 chicks in the incubator squeaking at the other eggs. Hopefully we'll get some more hatching here shortly.

WRVgirl - I did help mine out of the membrane. Not that I have any experience, other than lotsa reading online and following my instinct. I was careful to wait several times to make sure it had enough time to absord all the blood and yolk... I zipped for him, waited, took off the top of the shell and the outer membrane at the top, waited, then when it was sounding distressed but I could see it wiggling and trying I just pulled a little on the inner membrane from his pip hole. I'm glad I helped it out. Once I did it rested for several minutes before even trying to get up.
Good luck, keep us posted! I'm following you like a soap opera drama!

How's the lil one doing ChickSter???
I read somewhere if they are shrink wrapped and gunky you can run them under warm water and then right back to the bator to dry... less invasive and easier then qtips and some of the other things.
It's doing better. I finally got it cleaned with a damp cloth and q-tip. Just kept working very gently. When I felt like it had enough, I put it back in the bator to puff up. It didn't puff as much. None of the 2nd batch fluffed as good as the 1st batch. The 3rd is due today. I'm going to keep the humidity just a tad higher this time and see.
