SET EGGS JUNE 23 ANYONE WITH ME?

Fluffy Butt.

Still waiting for everyone to hatch. Good news! My porcelain egg just pipped! I only got one in my shipment and I'm crossing my fingers so hard that she makes it out of the egg!

Here are some pictures of Prim...now that she's dry and much cuter. Any guesses as to what color she's going to be? Her egg was marked Lavender, but she doesn't look very grey to me.

Srd, he was pipped when I woke up yesterday morning. I removed a little of te pipped shell and I can see the beak, he's moving...I hope he decides to come out soon.
WRVgirl - don't know how you feel about assisting... (seems like people have some strong feelings on the subject) But there are videos and stuff about how to do it, or you could just zip the line for him then it wouldn't be so hard to get out... if he hasn't done anything he might be stuck and can't get turned around to zip.
I assisted one of mine that got stepped on and had to help him get out of the inner membrane and it was pretty tough to get through (I think due to humidity issues).
I would think he should have done something by now, it's been over 24 hours. Good luck!!!

I'm only on day 13 and I'm doing turkeys so have longer to go, to boot. Had a dream that my temp spiked to 109! Shot out of bed to find the temp at 95, ack!

Better frozen than fried? I'm doing 8 auburn heritage turkey eggs (shipped from Porters) and set on July 1st. I have discovered that my homemade incubator holds a rather steady temp empty, but order eggs and the temp and humidity fly all over the place the second anything is in there. I have also discovered that all these temp fluctuations leave me feeling like a rotten turkey momma and I want a broody hen! I keep reading and hoping that one of my girls will do so on her own. I have 4 barred rocks, 4 golden sex links and 4 rhodies, all 12 weeks old. (I know, kinda putting the cart before horse here, nobody is even old enough to lay here and I want a broody... LOL I swear, I don't think I'd have had this much trouble if I'd stuck the eggs under my arms or something. 13 days of constantly staring at a thermometer. I MAY do this again, but not before buying an actual incubator. This ice chest make shift garbage that we worked so hard on is pretty much useless! I need consoling! I know others have said that if temps drop, do nothing, simply wait til power comes back on. you may have a delay in hatch but I don't think anyone intended for the "power" to go out every few days the whole hatch through! IF they decide to hatch, who knows how many added hours I'm up to now!

I'm so scared that I'll end up hurting her if I try to help...but I do agree, she doesn't seem to be making any progress on her own.

Any pointers?

Shes a double lavender, I would hate to lose her :/

Here's the link to the video I watched. I didn't use tweezers though, that made me nervous, so I just used my fingernail. It worked well...
Then, I just followed my gut. I did it and waited, and waited. Mine got to where it kinda sounded like he was distressed, which is when I went ahead and helped him the rest of the way. Most of the top of my shell was gone as I had zipped pretty close to the top so he would still be able to put agains most of the egg. When I helped with the membrane he pushed the rest of the way out, it was just too tough. I let him get completely out and up and around by himself. Was trying to be hands off but it was obvious he couldn't get out.

Go slow, if you see any bleeding in the membrane stop for at least 2 hours.

I just helped along two that have made no progress since yesterday morning. The one seems to be working on getting out again, and the other is still not doing anything.

Baby #2 just arrived and she has 2 more in hot pursuit. Today is turning out to be relatively exciting.

One of my babies has very stiff feathers after being sticky, I still have him in the bator until he is a little stronger and then I may try some Q-tips and warm water to loosen some of the stickyness :)
This is my first incubator hatch so I am playing it by ear lol. Good luck with your babies :)

*hugs* Heather x
Update....my little one didn't make it, I woke up this morning to find that she had passed away in her sleep
