SET EGGS JUNE 23 ANYONE WITH ME?

OOOOOh... I was wondering how I was going to clean out my bator - thanks for the advice!
After 23 days, I still had only 1 beautiful barnevelder baby out of 12 eggs. I said I wouldn't, but think I'm ordering some more eggs today. LOL

I'm only on my 2nd hatch with an incubator (homemade from a styrofoam cooler)

I used a bleach/water solution, just wiped everything down with cloth, and rinsed. It didn't get too messy because I had lined the bottom with paper towels, coffee filters, and I even had some paper plates in it!
My first hatch I was having trouble keeping humidity up in the styrofoam bator, and clean up wasn't easy. I put a trash bag along the bottom to help hold water better and clean up is so easy. This hatch I had 2 eggs that were oozing, and it was nasty! I am glad I can pick it all up on plastic and toss it. Cant imagine what it would do if it soaked in to the styrofoam??

I've missed 295 post!! My PC crashed and I was w/out access for 11 days.

Eggs purchased from neighbor & in incubator hatched June 23rd - 7: 1 pure white w/fuzzy legs, 2 Light Brahma, 2 Buff Orphington, 1 black chick-unknown breed, 1 grey Cochin mix.

My turkey that was sitting on chicken eggs: Last Monday I thought I heard cheeping under her. Lifted her in front and still saw eggs. But later in the day saw our 6mo old rooster running like crazy w/something in his beak. At first thought it was a mouse, but was the chick I thought I'd heard. Chick had hatched but turkey left nest and didn't keep chick warm. Rooster stole it and baby died. I took the remaining 3 eggs and put in brooder. 2 Black Cochin mix & 1 Grey Cochin mix hatched next day.

Eggs in incubator & under Broody hen hatched on the 12th. Have a total of 9 chicks & Momma hen has them all and is very protective.

2 Broody BO's in shed each sitting on 5 eggs are due to hatch the 21st, and duck sitting on 3 chicken eggs due to hatch on 30th

Tossed my incubator. Each batch of eggs has hatched less than 40%. No more hatching this year unless a hen goes broody!! Next year will get a good incubator.

I've gone from my original number of 8 chickens to over 70 now in 3 1/2 yrs. Right now I've over 50 babies age 6mo down to 1 week.

Connie, so was the last one alive??? How many days was it? Quite overdue right?
It was not alive. It was acutally officially due the next day. I think my humidity was too high never know who to listen to on this stuff. I guess I am still learning and have to try and hope it works. I am going to lower the humidity. It shows 55-60 for the first 18 days then 80-85 on the last 3 days. But that is the only one that exploded. At least I had a 50% hatch rate on my first hatch.

I'm having good success with humidity around 35%-45% until day 15...I start increasing it around day 15 (50%, 55%, 60% etc) and by lock down, I like it to be at least 70%.

These are all incubator chicks. There were 8 babies, but one didn't make it past the first week. I believe I posted pictures when they were first hatched; they are now 3 wks old.The older Cochin mix is about a month older than the younger chicks, but is acting as the mother to them. The 2nd pic has all 7 babies + the older Cochin mix.
