I set eggs on the 18th. It is my first time. I have no idea what kind of incubator I am using a distant relative of my husbands is letting me use it. He also game me 18 eggs to use. I have no idea what kind. I think some are EE. I also got 18 from a friend. 1 of those is a silkie and the other 17 are EE.
I do not have a turned. So, I have been having to do it by hand. I hate having to open it every time I do this. I am going to be asking for a turner for Easter.
I have a feeling if I have any chicks hatch I am going to be addicted!!!!

I also turn my eggs by hand. Just remember come day 19, you won't turn them anymore and you won't open the incubator unless it is an emergency!!!! Starting day 19 is the hardest for me, cause I am on pins and needles waiting for them to hatch!

It is so crazy just how fun hatching eggs can be. Children seem to love the process that the eggs go through in order to be hatched. Again it is quite rewarding to see your children doing the necessary things for the eggs to hatch. I really like this information because it is really easy to follow.

I think i'll try to candle at 7 days. What do you chicken folk think? Or should we wait till day 10? These are brown eggs, blue and greens, no olives

When do you candle?

I candle now , or like the other post said , day 7. You should be able to see some veining on day 3. I am just so curious as to whether my eggs are good or not, I am gonna try tonight and see if I can tell anything
