Set eggs on 3/18 who's with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plug has been out( the new genesis only has one plug). Filled right side of trough only( with the incubator level it runs all the way around and doesn't just stay on the right side). Using an auto turner. I calibrated my auxiliary hygrometer/thermometer. I've got it down to 29% humidity and will slowly work up to 40%. I've put 3 cc's of water in right now, see what happens. Next I'll try 5cc and go from there. It may be because its been humid out. I don't know I guess I shall experiment a little at a time. Plug is in right now also, I put it in after my humidity went down to 27%.
I did candle a bunch of eggs and saw veins in all of them. Even my blues and greens from my EE's have veins. Browns eggs look good too.So exciting. Thanks for the help.

YAY !!! congrats on the candling !

sparrker, 29% is way to low! I didn't know what the 1588 looked like but it's different than mine. My tray goes halfway around on one side and same on other. But even Hova-Bator recommends humidity to be at 50% for incubating so if you went to 58% even 60% it would be ok. But I like to keep it at 45% personally. And that's what I was told to do and it's working I just candled my eggs and 12 out of 13 BLRW look great and the 1 still looks good I still have hope. Both of my Gold Laced Brahma Eggs look good aswell. Would anyone like to see pics? I can try and take some. LET'S GET THIS FORUM JUMPED BACK OFF PEOPLE WWHHOOOO! Sorry

I've moved my first batch of eggs to lockdown and set four dozen more in the incubator. I would love nothing more than to have 50 chicks popping out in three weeks!

I don't even bother with my humidity the first 18 days. Of course, I am in humid SE Louisiana, so it is always around 30% or so in the room my incubator is in. I just raise it up for lockdown to around 65%. I am using a 1588(older version) as well, and I am getting good hatches. Getting my Sportsman next week to try out!

I won't candle until Wed night, so I will have updates then!

Candled last night, looks like most are coming along quite nicely. I have 1 or two that don't seem to have any vein formation but I am not giving up on them yet. 1 week in, 2 to go, very impatient future bantam mama waiting!!!!

sounds like everyone is doing great!!!!

Yay for veins !!! Sounds like yours are progressing right on schedule. My humidity is jumping around too. Was 39 when I went to bed last night and down to 29 when I got up at 5. Added 5cc and it jumped to 45 in a matter of minutes. UGH. If these incubators do nothing else they sure make us think :) Good luck !!!

thank you ddnonin2016. Yeah , they are absolutely beautiful. It is the coronation sussex, they are very hard to come by. They guy i got my lav orp from has them too. he gave me an egg with the 3 lav orp eggs he gave me. I was so hoping it would be good. Oh well, they were free. the 3 orp eggs look to be growing...........

Well i've had it holding at 44% humidity since 7:30 this morning. I just added 5 cc of water in my outside trough. Vent plug is laying upside down covering the vent hole. I may add 6 CC to see what that does when I see a drop in my humidity. I don't believe 29 is to way to low. If anyone dry incubates it will be lower than that. I believe you don't want to go below 20%. BTW I have been using the 'hatching calender'. Any one else using it?
