Day 5 and I have 18 eggs that have dark blobs in them!!!!

I'm so bad...we candled again. We are a homeschooling family, so I use the excuse that it's all for learning. Which of coarse it is! Anyway, all of them have developed! WooHoo!

Im so with you... its all for the sake of education... right? lol

I am truely loving all that the kids are learning and in the end we have more eggs. hehehe

We candled a few the other day, but it looks like most of our silkies we bought are not developing.

Im not sure if they were scambled in shipping or if the roo just didnt do his job? I dont know how to tell. I may just need to do more research. As for now Im giving them a little more time. Im just dont want to toss an egg to soon nor do I want exploding eggs.​

hello, I have my first batch due on day after easter. Then i also have 4 more batches due the 13,14,15,17 of april. I will have silkies due first *keeping fingers crossed for a great hatch rate* using egg carton* then I am going to have ban. Americanas, then maran mixture, then full size americanas then more marans. I am so Excited and praying for a great hatch rate. So I too am hatching right along with you.

My kids and I *27, 7,3* have candled our eggs every day since day 7. It was fun to watch them kicking *trying to * the led light away. I think I might have had more fun candling then my kids. Oh well they are momma babies anyhow. BUT i did catch daddy down there looking at them too. So you can prob. bet that he will be watching them hatch right along with us. Yes it is a learning process for the kids and the parents too, just watching the different stages.

I will take pictures of my first hatch as those will me momma's babies.


My chickens know their names and they come when they are called. Its too cute.

I candled on day 8, saw movement in most eggs, except for my real dark welsummer eggs......everything going great!

day twelve.i tossed a leghorn the other day. The dominique egg seems not to be dooing a thing but the rest might be. I'm betting on the ee if anything. Fo shizzle.
