Okay- it was the bulb & it melted part of the 'bator & the tape that was holding the aluminum foil tent over the light. We have replaced it with a 25w bulb & taken the alum. tent off. It's now (as far as I can tell in 15-20 minutes) holding temperature & humidity is up to 52%.
Should I put the BCM eggs back in or take the chance with the other 18 eggs that are 4-5 days along in the other bator?

We now have 2 pips!!! and peeping!

After thinking we roasted (103) and drowned (83% humidity) our chicks, we now have 2 pips!

So on our first hatch it seems that if we catch things quickly enough and bring it back to normal, the eggs may be somewhat forgiving.
Also, I read that bantam eggs can hatch earlier than standards (19-21 days) instead of 21 days. And my 2 pips are bantam d'uccles.

I've also read it's very important not to open the bator in the last 2 or 3 days of lockdown. So no matter what, don't touch the bator!
Humidity can be somewhat controlled by opening and closing the red plugs on the top of the bator. That's how I was able to lower the humidity.

Good Luck everyone!

Margo -- I'm so sorry! Please let us know how your 2 or 3 eggs do! I had to throw out 8 of my 17. When I cracked them open, there
was a small air sac in the egg, but otherwise, the egg was intact and looking like a normal unfertilized egg. 2 were looking scrambled but the
other 6 weren't. I wonder if this was due to being shipped eggs. Good luck with your last 2 or 3. If they hatch, they will be very special to you!!

I just found this thread, but I have eggs due 4/1 also. I have 6 silkie-feathered Ameraucana eggs and 7 EE eggs from my flock. When I left for work earlier today one of the EE eggs was pipped. Can't wait to see what I find when I get home tonight!

What does an EE/Silkie X look like? Sounds interesting! What color eggs to the X's lay?!

I have 2 Silkie/EE crosses from the same parents. 1 lays a tan egg and the other lays green! Here's a pic of them with their daddy:
