. Getting excited!! Mine go into lockdown tomorrow. Is anyone using egg cartons to put the eggs in while they hatch? Last time the eggs got knocked around so much by the chicks in the incubator that I am going to try it this time.

I thought about that but then someone told me that it's natural that the chicks kinda roll around a litle bit because they do that in the nest with the mom. But it's all your choice let know how it goes!

I read that too but I swear a couple of the babies died while zipping because they got knocked around so much. I had a little rooster hatch that was insanely hyper. I have been trying to think of a way to seperate them differently but I cant think of anything.

Well my Friend leaves them out and just waits until they hatch. Once one hatches she snatches it out and puts it into the preheated brooder. Good luck.

So far I have 3 of my barnyard mixes( one is definately half silkie, it has 5 feathered toes), 3 speckled sussex, 2 polish( one white, and one blackish or dark bluish with some white here and there) and 1 lavendar orpington!!!! They are so stinking cute!! And today is only day 21 so I still have 6 more in the bator. Hoping for more chicks soon!! No pips on the remaining 6. Pretty good, I think, for my first time incubating and in an LG still air. I still have 6 silkies also that aren't due for another probably 10 days. We will see how the staggered hatch goes!!!!!!
