I have an even dozen still in the incubator. One more hatched since moving the babies out. I just woke up to see 33% humidity in the bator. And it looks like 2 or possibly 3 more have tiny pips but I'm not very hopeful for them since it dried up in there while I slept.

I'll have to figure out what to do about that in the future. I mean you can't sit by them 24/7, ya know? I added some water and closed both vents but I seriously doubt I'll get any more hatches.

On a happy note, I have 24 chickies that seem very happy and healthy. Count your blessings, not your chickens before they hatch, right?

This is the slowest, draggiest hatch ever. I think we're finally wrapping it up now. I have 14 out, 3 more zipping and almost there. I have 9 with no pips. I guess I will leave them for another day before I give up on them. I did end up with one chick with crippled feet. I am going to try to splint his toes to see if he can straighten out on his own. He has a toe on each foot that curls under. ???? Dont know why. He's from my coop... Japanese bantam mixed with a standard buttercup mix rooster. Dont know if its my incubator, or bad genes, or what.

My chicks are late! but I have two eggs churping at me and i cant see any pips in the shell. and i have one still piped since yesturday that bled a little so she is still working on things. I will most likely be the last to post pictures of fluffy butts

My chicks are hatching late too! What's up with these chicks! My first four hatched on day 22 and 23. I had one hatch today on day 22 and 7 more still in there. 3 have pips and 4 don't as far as I can see. I took out the chicks born this morning. My RCom regains humidity within seconds so it seemed okay to grab him out. I also had one with spraddle leg and since this is my first hatch and I'm about a month into having chicks, that was interesting. Thanks to this board, I figured out what to do and he seems okay now!

Sugarhill- I used the suro 20 also. My chicks hatched on day 22 and 23 and I have 9 more eggs left with some still moving. I am thinking the bator needs calibrated. I hatched one with crippled feet. I didn't use a back up thermometer (wish I would have). I'm really thinking its running a degree below the digital readout. Once I'm done hatching I'm going to place a mercury thermometer in there to see what's up. Its definetly going to be calibrated before I use it again. So far 17/26. Not good, although I am very happy with what I've got... Nice healthy little bugars.

Hmmm.... this is my first hatch and I didn't even think it might be off. I have mine set at 99.8 temp and it's been on that up and down a little. I did not put an additional thermometer in there. Please keep me posted on what you find out. I don't know enough about all of this to even figure it out!

Well- it took 22 days of watching, waiting, and dreaming for these precious little chicks to come into the world... and all of 5 minutes for half of them to drown in my waterer. I am never ever doing this again. I am absolutely heartbroken. I have 10 back in the incubator, hoping they will come around. 3 are dead. The only 4 left are the only ones who couldnt fit. Stupid, stupid, stupid me.

Well my first chick hatched!!! it is one of my blue wheaten Amerucanas not a EE a real Amerucana! yeahoo!
