Set of weird symptoms, what could it be?

It might, but since we are just guessing what is wrong, it may not. Oxytetracycline is more helpful with respiratory diseases, but it might help. I’m glad that you got the dosage, since it is hard to find.

I did find Tylan 50 at a farther away feed store. Would this be a better bet? I know I don’t know what I’m treating but I’m desperate. I really don’t want to loose my Ameraucanas.

They are all treated with Tylan intramuscularly and given 10ml of yolk. Only time will tell at this point. One rooster looks really bad and if he’s not dead in the morning I will be shocked. Not to be mean, but he smelled like dead chicken already.

So I’ve read on the dosage for Tylan 50 and everyone says something different. Is it .5ml or 1ml? Twice a day or once a day? 3 days in a row or 5 days in a row? Or something else?

Edited to add: I did the 1ml tonight BTW

Tylan 50 dosage is 0.2 ml per pound of weight 2-3 times a day for 5 days. Getting a weight on her helps to be accurate.

If you lose one, I would send the body into your state vet or poultry lab for a necropsy to look for a cause of death. They sometimes will do 2 for the same price to get a more accurate diagnosis. Google Metzer Farms—poultry diagnostic labs for a list of state vets and labs.

Sorry it isn't looking better. :(

Toxin is suspect to me, with so many birds getting it all at once. But I know standard illness can spread rapidly too.

Thing is, although I like to use raw egg yolk in a pinch... it can contain salmonella too I think.

Hope you do get some answers today. :fl

I usually don’t do much with my birds either but these particular birds are a little more special. My plan was to Breed them to the SOP and possibly showing them. As it stands now, 6 of my 8 Ameraucanas are sick.
So by reason of deduction... anybody would already be breeding by 2 years old not "planning to"... How long have you had these birds? And where did you get them? And your red sex links?

They are all alive! The really sick rooster isn’t gasping like he was yesterday. Hopefully it’s an improvement. The others were all roosting and poo looks the same. If one dies I will probably send them in. I want to know what is making them sick.

Thanks for the links. What would you recommend giving them instead of yolk?

I bought my Ameraucanas as chicks hot outta the incubator, I actually had to wait for a few to hatch to complete my order. Then we had an unexpected move before the Ams were laying, and had to build one large coop quickly and didn’t have separate pens set up. Then I got pregnant 3 months after moving and so I decided to wait on the breeding any more birds. Now my daughter is 7.5 months old, I’m not working outside the home anymore and the coop is in a better state and I have my first test hatch in my incubator trying to iron out some kinks. So I’m ready to start hatching my Ameraucanas. That’s why it has taken me so long to get started with breeding them.

I have had my Ameraucanas from day olds from a local (3 hr drive one way) breeder that does not vaccinate. The gold sexlink chicks came from Privitt hatchery through a mom & pop type feed store. Honestly I don’t know if they are vaccinated or not, I can call and ask. Those girls are just over a year old. No other chicks or adult birds have come here. The sex links are 100% fine. And one Ameraucana rooster is fine but he is in a completely separate area. One of my 5 Am hens seems okay, but she was part of the sick crew originally.
