chloe, this is my first successful hatch. my first hatch was dumb luck and I hatched a malformed chick and had to kill it. my second batch I fried on accident and this one is working so far. was this your first attempt at hatching? I would never tell my husband this but Ive spent well over $200 in incubator and eggs just to get these 4 chicks right now... definitly trial and error.

I just decided to help out the one that had pipped and zipped but not hatched as it had been since 7 am that it hadnt done anything. I grabbed it real quick so my humidity only changed one %, but the chick had already died... I knew I should have helped sooner! dang it

Ugh, I think one of mine might be malformed. It's having trouble moving, and it looks like its legs are bent in some weird direction.

I know the feeling! Still waiting on the little guy with 2 kids checking every 10 minutes yesterday and asking me why he hasn't came out yet.

Here are two pics of my broody momma Patina and one of her chicks, Castor or Pollux. I think they're WCB banty polish mom with some kind of feathered footed dad. I got two banty polish pullets at the time Patina went broody. One or both laid a couple of eggs right before I was going to set, so I slipped two under her a day or two before I got the others. I think that is why they hatched yesterday and the others haven't pipped yet (although I heard peeping today). Looking at them closely, they might have tiny little crests. Today is day 21 for the rest of the eggs, so I'm hoping I go out and find more chicks tomorrow!

They are quite adorable little twins, hence the names. Patina is being such a good momma for her first time. She taught the chicks to eat earlier. I want the other eggs to hurry up and hatch so I can put them all in a hutch rather than the nest box area.

Sorry the pics are kind of blurry. I used no flash and my camera adusted the shutter speed as a result. Momma called the baby out to drink but by the time I got back, she was done with the water.
