On of my 24 hours in the fridge eggs has pipped!

Had another die while trying to zip out. It was like it never pipped the egg but tried to zip... I wonder whether the membrane dried out too much from me taking the lid off. I was always quick about it but I'm not sure. current tally: of 32 that made it to lockdown... 22 hatched, 2 dead, 8 eggs. I have a feeling my remaining eggs won't hatch but there's always that possibility. We shall see.

I have an internal pip and a cheeping egg!! how long does it usually take for them to pip the shell once they are cheeping?

Should be very soon once they start chirping. All of mine pipped less than a day from when they started chirping. Once they pip they can take up to a day to start zipping but once they start zipping they will hatch within 20 or 30 minutes. Patience is key.. I nearly killed one of my chicks helping it hatch. Sometimes it's necessary, though.

Twice now, I thought I heard peeping - but no sign of hatching yet! Argh!

Went to bed with 4 pips last night half way through day 20 got up this morning to a baby at 6am and have had two more hatch since then. I have 10 more pips and I am just waiting for them to get motivated to hatch. So far so good. Now we just have to teach the babies to not play soccer with the eggs when they get bored lol. 27 eggs total so far 13 hatched or hatching and counting.

I set one (of one) egg on 2/4, too!! It's my first hatch ever! It started pipping around 3 o'clock this morning and is out of it's shell at around 11:15 today!!!!

this is so frustrating! I just want to go break open that egg!!! It still hasnt externally pipped yet. I just hear it a chirping away though. looks like I will be watching incubatr tv tonight

They do that ... start cheeping still in the shell. I didn't know that when I first started hatching and I though I was loony.

OMG I got 2 gorgeous silkie chicks thus far! One blue and one white.
I still hope for the rest to hatch!

Did you put all the eggs under a broody hen? Congrats on the two. Isn't it hard to check under the broody for chicks? I don't even try checking for fear of goofing things I don't understand up.
