So, this week my dear husband got hold of 4 Araucana's for me to put in my baby-bator (holds 9 ...12 at a pinch). This evening they have gone in, at 38.5c with humidity at 25%. Aiming for a dry hatch but humidity is so low here at this time of year, I have had to add a tiny amt of water. Due 20th of July.

Anyone else with eggs set recently or soonish?

Overwhelming response here....

Yes I am!!! Well been gone 3 days and my original Broody (she got chased off by another hen who hatched out her clutch the very last week of setting!!!) Is back on a clutch of eggs-- I let her keep 5... so even if she only hatches out 2 it would be so nice for her to be a mama....
They are all Jersey Giants, a big breeders line Roo, 2 of his sisters and 8 smaller hatchery bred birds .....
I think... d/t the inexact nature of Brooding... the hatch date is July 19th, 20th, or 21st....

Hello Heidisgran & CAjerseychick!

Heidisgran - how many duck eggs? What type?

CAjerseychick - How rude of the other hen to steal her eggs! I hope she gets to have her own babies this time round. Did many of the original clutch hatch? Is she isolated this time round? JG's are not really available here in Australia... but I googled them, they look pretty!

I have eggs due to hatch the 18th and the 21st. They're Old English Game Bantams

Blom545 - Wow! You must have lost of space.... are you on a farm? I wish I had more space to expand chook runs.

Chickenlver2013 - They are a striking bird to see, lucky you! Don't see them round here either...

Lots of exotic varieties turning up here, how exciting! Well... exotic to me from this side of the world. Most people here have either Isa Browns or RIR's in their backyard. I have one each of Australorp, RIR and Welsummer. And recently hatched (for the first time!) a french Wheaten Marans - extremely rare here and another one which I have not got a clue what it is - it's supposed to be a RIR...but it ain't!!

So, I'm wanting to try hatching more Marans - but the waiting list for eggs here is over 6-8 weeks, so for now I have got my hands on 4 tiny Araucana's. My plan ultimately is to cross the Marans and the Araucana's for some Olive Eggers.
