Set some eggs just now, due date 20th July.... anyone else setting just now? Hatch-Along

Out of the 16 that hatched, lost 3 chicks. 2 died from having a cord or prolapse 48 hrs after hatch, and the 3rd one had to be put down. The rest are doing great! so far :/ I was going to sell them, but I think I'm going to keep them. Hubby is talking about dispatching our roo and may as well thin out the old flock. Keeping my star performers of course.
How many times have you read Sally's articles now?

how is the hatch going? how much humidity did you have while incubating the eggs? if it was high then you want the humidity higher now...whatever it was you want it higher now! just a little higher is fine...once the chicks pip their outer shell they will rest a long time...could be a day could be a few hours....then they will start pecking a circle around the shell...once they start that it's usually not very long because they don't stop until they're hatched...the egg will look wild lol....once they pip internally all their chirps and pecking and wiggles is so they can finish absorbing the yolk and blood...so be patient about helping....do candle!! it won't hurt I do it all the time! or just pick it up and tap to listen then once you hear it chirping or tapping put it back! mine hatched 14 hours apart set exactly the same day! let us know

So far, with this Aug hatch I'm TRYING to keep a lower temp, had the two die from cord or whatever it was hanging out of their belly. I really don't want to go through that again. seems like it's staying at 99* no lower no higher.

Enough times that I should feel calmer. But if she says some tough love won't hurt the eggs I'll leave the little bulldozer I'm there longer lol.

YAYAAAYY! First pip this AM and one is def out and possibly more (didnt want to disturb Mrs Broody anymore than we did this morning but she is purring and seems very content-- we will peek under her tommorrow AM and see who is there and what eggs are left!
SO eggs were set June 29 or 30 so this actually is day 23 for us right? A late hatch!!!!!!

Thank you all so much for your help and information. My son came through and told me I had an egg rocking around in the bator about 7:40 eastern standard time and by 8:44 the first chick was hatched! Hubs lovingly named it Eggbert when we first noticed the rocking. He's a little early but so happy he's here. There's a couple of other eggs that have moved around a little bit so hopefully we will have more soon. Is it normal for the humidity to go up as they start hatching? I had to remove the water tray all together to get the humidity down in the first place.

Ah! Finally!

Two little fighters have broken the shell but I have heard no noise?
Well shows there is something in there!
Should hatch by the end of today
