Settin chicken eggs tonight! 8-4-11

i just hatched the one that i was sure would hatch simply because it was the one with a big body and moved in the canddling stage. anywho i am at wits end because we had to help the baby out and when we introdused her to Rose, rose pecked at her so what do i do now??? do we buy an incubator till she is old enough to join her mom??

oh also KDailey congrats isnt that funny that we hatched an egg at the same time lol!!!

All you need is a box and a heat lamp. It can be one of those plastic storage bins (this is what I use) or a cardboard box, anything. Then just put the heat lamp over it to keep the little guy warm. If you have a little chick feeder and water that'll be good too.

No wiggling or pipping or peeping yet. But I candled a few and they seem to be taking up most of the egg. Some seem to be a little further behind but still moving. I saw a perfect profile of a little banty, I could see the little beak.. AND WIGGLING TOES! I got so excited when I saw it! Maybe something might happen in the next few days.

CONGRATS on the babies everyone! Please post pics! Its a cool feeling to go through this process with others and to see the outcome everyone has!

I hope that I can soon join in with the celebration!

MommaBugg: I know being patient is so hard, I finally got 2 pips and I keep saying "Why do they have to take so long of breaks inbetween. Agghhh!" LOL Good Luck!!

I was going to ask about that, mine started wiggling, but no pipping. About how long does it normally take to pip after they start wiggling? Theres been no progress since 4am

16 babies hatched, 3 died so I'm at 13 babies!! One of them is obviously going to be my "special" chicken because he was doing really bad but has managed to fight through it and is doing ok. I think he'll survive, he'll just be a little.....different. lol.

The very first egg that was wiggling only just hatched last night and it was wiggling Monday night.
