I will have several more hatching out the 4th and 5th I can't wait for those to hatch either. I am trying to find some bantam eggs to hatch or some game eggs to hatch. I will have room in the incubator for more eggs after the 4th and 5th.... I guess I am a hatchahollic lol

I candled my eggs today (only day #3) just to see what was going on and I only got 1 (out of the 7 I candled) that I am sure is growing. It had distinct veins etc. The others had a bigger air cell that they started with but there was a reddish, solid blob in the shell. They are shipped eggs and several had loose air cells (although not scrambled). One looks like it's clear and if it still looks that way on day #7 I will remove it. I didn't even bother candling my 3 BCM's.

I hate to hear that sports chick maybe they will be ok. I don't usually candle til day 7 because its to hard to tell for sure if there going to form or not.

I am going to assume they are Ok. I am mostly testing my ability to recognize candling results. I will look again on day #7. My 3 BCM's I doubt I will be able to see anything, but the others should be pretty straight forward by day #7 or so, since they have such light colored shells.

Its ok I think we've all been busy. The eggs that I had supose to hatch today and tomorrow I woke up to two chicks cheaping this morning at 5:30am So I got them out and put them in the brooder box and now I have 4 more just hatched and one pipped! I haven't figured out what kind they are I will deffinately go in the morning and take pics for you to see them. They are getting so big so quick. lol. I candled all the eggs and I only had two that wasn't doing good. I am going to just wait and see what kind of colors all my chicks will have some of them are really dark red and black I am curious as to what it will be. Some are black with yellow faces. I hatched another that was so yellow it is almost white and has one black spot on its back. I will post pictures of the ones I can get to stay still.... I am sorry to hear about the chicks under the broody hen hold your head up though it can only get better and atleast you got to save one of them.... hope you had a good hatch from the other broody keep me posted....

So far not so good!! I have thrown out 2 blood rings already and am pretty sure that I have 2 more that are not viable. Since I only started with 10, and 3 of them I can't see through their shells at all, it isn't looking that great so far.

Hi! I set 9 Welsh Harlequin eggs on 7/1 (they were shipped, and candled at 7 days, one was infertile), so I'm waiting on 8 viable eggs so far. They will be due to hatch on 7/28.

I know they're duck eggs, but can I join the party? It would be nice to have company and advice- this will be my first attempt at hatching anything. To make things more difficult, I'm trying this in a homemade incubator! Woo hoo! Good luck everyone!
