Setting and hatching in December? Come join us! - Holiday Season hatch-along

My wife and I gave our son 4 eggs on thanksgiving day, and 4 more on the friday after, the very next day. He has a "crap" still air from TSC and a turner. Never done it before. We have had broody hens and they take 21 days to hatch, plus or minus one. Out of the 8 eggs he had, 5 hatched exatly 15 days later,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,is this normal ??? thats like 7 days early, and they are all doing fine. temp was 99.5.

Woooohooo!!! I'm glad I found this thread. This is just what I was looking for! One of my girls went broody. When she first went broody, she was only setting on three. I tried to move her during the day and it didn't work. (I figured it wouldn't, but I was desperate because I had another ready to lay on the floor of the coop. I took those eggs and figured if she was still trying to sit tonight I would move her whilst she slept. It worked perfectly. When I filled the feed and water bowls of her "Broody Box" she got up to drink and eat for 2-3 minutes and when right back to the eggs to sit.

This is my second year to have chickens, but this is the first time one has gone broody. I'm so excited, I don't know how I will stand it!
