Hatching some Dec chicks today. I have 2 partridge silkies on the hatcher already out and two pipped eggs and one other egg waiting to pip! I am using a Mini Brinsea for a hatcher this time and so far so good after having some bad hatches.

I've got 5 pipped and one zipping out of 10 that weren't supposed to hatch till tomorrow. Mine always seem to hatch a day early. The one that is zipping pipped over 24 hours ago. Maybe I need to take the temp in the incubator down a degree.

Ive been looking for something like these since I give a lot of chicks away I like to mark the ones im planning on keeping. These come in a lot of different sizes what size do you use if you dont mind me asking

Seems like all of those breeds would look different when they hatch so I wouldn't think you would need to mark them. But this is what I use to identify chicks.

Ok i got my diy bator rewired finally.The fan now stays on 27-7 instead of just when the thermostat kicks on. Since the eggs were already out i went ahead and candled a couple eggs.I could see very faint veins in one of the eggs. So maybe i will have a christmas day hatch.

Use a size 4 for day old chicks and 5 for 2 to 4 weeks old and just go up from there.

You will like them. I am putting 5s on day old chicks and they stay on good. The spiral ones will cut off the blood if they get too tight. These are soft and stretch but don't let them stay on too long before going up in size. I can only find these soft ones in sizes 4, 5 and 6. A lot of people use small colored ty-raps or cable ties.
