Been a while since Ive been online but here I am. Had eggs under a broody due on Christmas but apparently I counted wrong cause only one egg hatched on Christmas, the rest are still waiting. Problem is, momma got impatient and hopped off the eggs. No matter what I do, she wont go back to them and sit. Sooo I fired up the incubator (shoulda had it on standby anyway but I was being optimistic) and they are warming up in there. At least one is in the final stages, getting ready to pip because it was cheeping like mad as I moved it from the coop to the house.

Also, I have three EE cross eggs due to hatch January 1st for the hatchalong. Also under a broody but this one is an experienced mom (and I counted correctly that time, they all were set under her on the same day). Sooo a lot of finger crossing, hoping and praying will be filling the house for the next few days until they all hatch.

I know how ya feel, last time that was me I had 8 cream legbar eggs not do anything,

One is out and now only 2 that have pipped. Seems like so few to pip out of one hatched already! I candled on day 16 and all my showgirls were moving and no pips on any of them yet. The wait is
Killing me!

I guess I was lucky with 13 hatches, and 8 more in the incubator on a wait and see thing as they were 5 days after the first group.

Only tossed one so far.

Fingers crossed :fl everything goes well and in your favor.

So, our first hatch went pretty well - two maran chicks, three lavender orpingtons, some barred rock and some buff orp/barred crosses. One maran has twisted toes, 13 are a week old today and chirping, mosh pit diving, and eating a bunch. Six more hatched yesterday that were put in on the 9th. All the chicks are amazing. The wings are coming in and they get taller every day. We converted a travel trailer into a second coop just for babies. We doubled our flock in three weeks! Put two dozen more in the incubator yesterday.

Thanks for all ya'lls advice.
Kat
