Setting Eggs 1/19 - Hatching Buddies

I might have an addiction to candling the eggs! I checked them again last night. All 8 are still moving!! I have high hopes this time around. As we near lockdown, what's the best way to raise your humidity for lockdown? I have a Little Giant still air bator. I was thinking 2 or 3 small shallow bowls under the wire.

I use the little plastic cups similar to what restaurants use when they serve dressing on the side along with sponges in small dishes to raise the humidity in my LG.

Officially locked down. I put mine in an egg crate this time will have to sit on hands till the weekend. The darker Maran eggs look like the air cells are a bit small but from what I was told they need a little longer to hatch d/t the thickness of the shell or some sort. The lighter colored either Maran or MaranX's are right on target for day 18. I put the humidity up fingers crossed they all hatch

Yay, time to sit back relax and keep your eyes glued hahah jk jk. I'm on lockdown too, expecting my 2nd batch tomorrow.

I put my eggs in the 20th so the 21st is my first day right? If so tomorrow makes day 18!! I'm so excited!! I just want them to hatch. I think I'm going to try the washrag or paper towels this time.

Tomorrow is day 20 for my remaining 9 shipped silkie eggs. Hatching in 2 Brisea Mini Advances. I couldn't fit any type of egg carton in so I am propping them up on rolled paper towel. I have been using this method the whole incubation to keep them upright. I just turned them over gently 5 times a day by hand. Hope it works! Nervous and excited!!

Of the 29 Welsummer and Marans eggs I started with (all shipped eggs), 9 have made it to lockdown. That's about what I was expecting since they were shipped and I'm new at this! I have been "talking" to the eggs all evening... Chirping encouraging sounds... My DH thinks I've gone daft..... He may have a point. ;-)
