Setting Eggs 1/19 - Hatching Buddies

Checked my eggs tonight. I'm on day 12 and one went bad. Took some pictures so maybe someone can tell me what they think happened. Of the remaining 9, I could see 7 of them had veining and 3 of them were moving when I was candling. The other 2 are dark brown eggs so I had a hard time seeing anything other than darkness.
Here's the one that didn't make it.

What are you hatching?

These eggs came from my hens. Our rooster I have no idea what he is. He was given to me. I have 2 Welsummer eggs. I have 5 White Leghorn, and 2 my brown eggs either came from our Speckled sussex, buff orpington, or plymouth rock. Not sure cause all their eggs look the same. Here's a picture of my roo:

As now we're 2/3 the way through how are everyone's eggs doing? I have eight going strong that will make it to lock down hoping for eight healthy chicks. Luckily this batch of eggs was pretty healthy out of 18 eggs only 9 were fertile but as we're in the middle of winter wasn't expecting 100% fertility and the 1 that was fertile and didn't make it broke.. :( so eight little chicks hopefully lots of pullets..

Well mines that were due last night.... Well... Nothing! So I candled the air sack and wow! I saw their tiny lil beaks already had broken into the air sack and took their first breath of air. That was it though, no pipping or hatching. So after a restless night. I woke to see nothing still. So I candle again and still see them in the same position, poked through to the air sack just breathing there. So I googled online and read that they can breath in their (once in the air sack) for 48 hrs. So here we go, today should be the day!

Correction... The chick has 72 hours worth of air once broken into the air sack but normally hatches with in 24 hours once in the air sack. These are for chickens though, I'm hatching button quails.

I checked out my guys again and lost another egg. :( I'm down to 8 eggs. It makes me sad cause I checked them a couple days ago and it was moving around but tonight there were no veins, no movement besides when I turned the egg the whole black mass floated to the top. I cracked it open and think it may have been something developmental. I could see it's eyes, and beak, wings and feet but the feet were super super small.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I pulled out another at day 14 that died the second week. The same thing...no movement, collapsed blood supply. I just figure there was something wrong with it. I still have 30 left, though. Hopefully all of these will hatch.

Yay! Seems like one has taken up the whole space of the air sack. I put the egg to my ear for a listen... and I hear some tapping, yay! Hopefully it's that the lil bugger is trying come our into the world.
