They are a lot of fun but beware.. we have nicknamed them poppets! they love to bounce like popcorn!

I stuck my eggs in this morning. I have the incubator in my room where the kids can't mess with it too much and ended up having to shut my fan off. I really like sleeping with a fan but it was messing with my incubator temps! After shutting the fan off the temps regulated to 99.6-100.4 and stayed that for 12 hours. Good enough for me! Humidity is between 45-50%. Hope my pullets gave me good eggs!

things are not looking to good on my first hatch. just candled my eggs out of 20 eggs i got 3 unfertilized and 9 showing little or no development 1 with a little black speck that moves when turned. with 7 hopefully on track i think my bator was too hot on the day I started.

How long have they been in? With some breeds they might be what I call "late bloomers" and not show anything that is certain until day 10. If I have room I always let them go to 10 days before tossing any.

Would Dominiques be one of those?

Because of a post office issue this hatch will be my 1st 'staggered' hatch. I put some in on the 9th and the 13th. I was thinking about building a hatcher but my incubator is a really good one and anything I build will be inferior. I decided to let my good incubator do it's job. Wish me luck on this one! These are shipped eggs. My last hatch was about 30% but it was more like 80% if I consider only the 'good' eggs I got. Meaning, the best eggs were the medium size nicely shaped ones. All of the outliers didn't make it, like the large porous, very small or extremely pointy ones.
